LUPUR: a black column of light with a graphic design
Standing 158 cm high and just 20 cm wide, this addition to our wall sconces takes the wall vertically, like a slender graphic column. Pairing acrylic with black metal gives a crisp silhouette, free of clutter, that plays on the contrast between opaque material and translucent diffusion. The black finish catches little daylight and leaves all the space to the lighting once night falls.
The 7 W LED source is built in from the start and gives off a warm white at 3000 K, a temperature that warms light-coloured walls and softens corners. Its 3 to 5 metre reach comfortably covers a desk corner, a stretch of living room wall or the side of a bed. The brightness is not adjustable: the effect stays the same from the first evening to the last, which keeps everyday use simple.
The art deco vocabulary shows in the deliberate verticality and the strict geometry of the body, while the black anchors the whole in a resolutely modern register. Running on 90-260 V and rated IP20, it belongs in dry rooms: bedroom, living room, office. On a light wall, it acts as a natural dividing line between two zones of the room.
