Wicker wall sconce
Wicker brings together supple strands woven by hand around a frame. Finer and denser than most fibres, it gives closed volumes that strongly subdue the light. These models round out our wall sconces with a register close to household basketwork, at once familiar and carefully made.
A tight basketwork, a living material
The wicker strand is narrow, which allows very close meshes. The result is almost continuous surfaces, run through with fine horizontal lines, where the light escapes only through the gaps. The effect differs markedly from a wide fibre: fewer projected patterns, more visible material.
The tone ranges from pale cream to light brown depending on how the strand is treated. Undyed basketwork lightens gradually with daylight; a stained version keeps a stable tone. The surface stays slightly irregular, each piece carrying the traces of the weaving.
A decidedly subdued light
Given the density of the weave, a large part of the light is held back. So allow for a more generous source than for a glass diffuser, or accept that the sconce plays a mood role rather than a functional one. The halo obtained stays soft, with no hard edge, and spreads widely across the wall.
The top and bottom openings of the volume change everything: a basket open at the top washes the ceiling, a closed model simply radiates through the fibre. A frosted 2,700 kelvin bulb suits both cases. With an integrated LED, the light is already calibrated and the piece stays warm to the touch.
Rooms and mounting heights
In a living room, wicker works in pairs or in a low run, around 1.50 m from the floor, to create points of light without competing with the ceiling light. Our living room wall sconces give an idea of the usual spacings according to the length of the wall.
In a circulation space, these shallow volumes work well: our hallway wall sconces favour low projections for that very reason. A dining room will take a more imposing piece above a sideboard. Keep bare fibres, on the other hand, for dry rooms, away from splashes and steam.

The rounded volume recalls basketwork hampers and occupies the wall generously. The opening at the bottom aims a cone of light towards the floor. This format needs a clear wall in order to breathe.
Flat and half-round

Reduced to a few centimetres in thickness, the piece reads as a woven disc set on the wall. It keeps the passage clear and spreads an even circular halo. The pattern of the weave becomes the main decorative element.
