POTIN: a rattan corolla with open petals
The woven rattan petals of this wall sconce open around a metal heart, across 37 cm wide and 40 cm high. The brown and beige tones of the fibre shift from one petal to the next, the sign of careful weaving. The 30 cm mount disappears behind the corolla once the piece is fixed.
The E27 cap LED bulb is included and diffuses a 3000K warm white, over a 3 to 5 metre reach. The light passes between the strands and draws cut-out shadows all around the fitting. With no dimmer, the intensity stays constant, in a deliberately subdued register.
In a kitchen, the rattan flower warms a tiled worktop and breaks the coldness of smooth surfaces. In a dining room or a living room, it replaces a picture and asserts a vintage stance. The IP20 rating reserves it for dry rooms, well away from water points.
